Version 4.5

  • Outlook is now started after the backup only when it was running before the backup
  • Uploaded backups were tested in FTP server even when testing was not supported by the server. This caused false alarms that backup failed.

  • General log email was empty in some situations
  • FTP upload progress bar was not showing the visual progress

Version 4.3

  • Advanced filtering now accepts filter masks for folder names. To exclude some folder from the backup, add the following exclusion filter: \FolderName\

Fixed / changed:

  • Single file selection is now using Archive attribute to detect file changes (meaning with incremental backups selected files are now included to the backup only when the file has been changed (and not always as before)).

Version 4.1

New:

  • Shortcut to back up Windows Mail
  • Option to retry all failed scheduler actions automatically
  • General log feature to see successful and failed actions for all tasks in one list (e-mailing with scheduler supported in the Pro version).
  • If the program has to shut down the computer, a 3 minute countdown warning is now appearing. It is possible to cancel the shutdown or push it forward to finish the work.
  • Option to notify about all failed actions (if active, the notification window appears no matter what other program is active at the moment).

Version 4.0

New:

  • TK8 Backup has now Standard version and the Professional version.
  • New backup types added: Incremental + full backup combination, differential, differential + full combination, inverse.
  • Option added so it would be possible to make (full) backup only if some file has been changed or added, compared to the last backup.
  • You can now select source folders with checkboxes in the folder tree. That will make folder selections easier.
  • Option added to set delay time between running the external application and the backup.
  • If the program is unable to start the backup job, and log emailing is active for that profile, the error notification is emailed
  • Professional version: The program can now access password protected and/or disconnected network paths.
  • Professional version: Advanced file rules added (file inclusion and exclusion based on the last modified date and size).

Version 3.1

New:

  • Added option (to backup profile, Log panel) to log all file names that were included to the backup
  • In Program Options, on Backup panel you can now set the double-click action. Default action is now "Start the backup".
  • If backup groups are used, there is a new command in the "Back up profile" button drop down menu to back up entire group.
  • In Program Options, on the CD/DVD panel you have now option to disable automatic disc ejection after the burning is completed.
  • The user is now warned if free space in the target drive can run out with next backup.
  • Support for double-layer DVD discs added
  • FTP and disc burning events are now also added to the log file.

  • Fixed log display problems that appeared with some program settings.
  • Fixed bug that missed folder monitoring schedules for Outlook backups in some systems.

Fixed / changed:

  • Outlook integration improved. As Outlook files are opened exclusively in the unique way, they can't be backed up if the Outlook itself is open. But the feature listed above solves this problem, and closes the Outlook automatically soon the Outlook backup is started.

Fixed / changed:

  • Increased ASPI driver compatibility for those few computers where the problem appeared. TK8 Backup uses now its own universal ASPI driver for all burning actions. Also, the CD or DVD is ejected and reloaded automatically after the burning is finished. This eliminates the Windows problem that the files were invisible in the Windows Explorer soon after they were burned.
  • Fixed the issue with disk spanning if the single part size was exceeding the 2000 MB.

Version 3.0.1

Fixed / changed:

  • With large backups (source files greater than 2 GB), the file size counter display (above the progress bar) was switched to negative number in some situations.
  • Run on windows startup resulted access violation error on Windows XP/2000
  • Some exclusively opened files gave modal error messages (produced by Windows) if TK8 Backup tried to backup them.
  • A bug related with canceling backups in progress on some computers

Version 1.3

New:

  • Profile window, filter panel: added option to include/exclude files by the status of hidden / read-only / system.
  • Added warning message to the backup process if the file is near to the limits of zip file format (if the file count is greater than 65 500 or size exceeds 2GB).

Fixed / changed:

  • Large backups (over 950 MB) produced error message on the beginning of backup step 'Creating zip file'.
  • Added additional verification for scheduler if trying to save profile with scheduling but schedule settings are not set actually. This caused the profile to backup in the looping mode.
  • Improved search speed and feedback information on using exclude filters on collecting data step of backup
  • If the profile had no scheduler, the next run was still scheduled after the backup in version 1.2
  • Using single files was not showing the increase of backup size on the backup indicator.
  • If error was occurred in the file search process (for example source folder was not found), the backup was cancelled, even if there was more folders to backup
  • If no files was found to backup, a message was displayed, but the backup window was not closed automatically.

  • If added a new profile, but cancelled in the profile window, still a new line was added to the table
  • Single file opening dialog in the Profile window: removed the default filter for Executable files
  • Disabled running of same backup in the same time. It was possible for example if user did dbl-click on the Backup button.
